50 Years of EWTO – Half a Century of History That Continues to Inspire

26/05/2026

On May 23–24, 2026, more than 20 representatives of EWTO-Bulgaria will travel to Germany to take part in a truly exceptional event – the 50th anniversary of the EWTO, the European WingTsun Organization.

This is not just an anniversary. It is a meeting with history. A meeting with our roots, our friends, our teachers, and the spirit of a martial art that has changed the lives of thousands of people around the world.

EWTO is one of the largest and most influential WingTsun organizations in the world. It was founded by my teacher, Grandmaster Keith R. Kernspecht – the man who forever changed the world of martial arts in Europe. With vision, dedication, and extraordinary energy, he built an organization with more than 1,000 schools across Europe. Today, his students teach all over the world, and his influence can be felt in almost every modern WingTsun lineage and direction.

Grandmaster Kernspecht is no longer with us, but his life’s work remains alive. It lives in our hearts, in our skills, and in the way we teach, train, think, and act. Every movement, every form, every technique carries a part of his legacy.

The jubilee event in Germany will bring together masters, instructors, and students from across Europe and around the world. Over two intensive days, participants will train, learn, and share inspiration under the guidance of the grandmasters. It will be a time of deep practice, friendship, and connection between people united by the same passion – development through martial arts.

For us, the Bulgarian group, this participation has an even deeper meaning. We have been honored with the invitation to present a demonstration during the gala evening. In front of an international audience, we will show scenes from the history of the creation of WingTsun – from its legendary roots to its living development today. This is a great responsibility and a great honor for EWTO-Bulgaria.

The gala dinner will bring together more than 400 guests.

Among the invited guests are Professor Margaritov and Professor Margaritova, who have played an important role in the long-standing connection between EWTO and Plovdiv University. Also invited is the Rector of Plovdiv University, Professor Rumen Mladenov – a sign of respect for the academic and cultural partnership that has developed over the years.

This year is especially meaningful for us because in Germany we will also celebrate 30 years of EWTO-Bulgaria. Three decades of training, seminars, examinations, demonstrations, friendships, effort, and growth.

Three decades in which WingTsun has become not only a martial art, but a path, a community, and a mission.

We are travelling to Germany with excitement, gratitude, and powerful energy. We are going not only to celebrate the past, but also to show that the spirit of EWTO is alive, strong, and moving forward.

50 years of EWTO.
